I also have the 3DR backpack, which IMHO is awesome for the price. Don't understand why your tablet does not fit in the inside pocket as I have an older Nexus 10 that fits, with a case/cover. You talk about a slot? Not sure, but again I use the inside 'net pocket' on the cover to store my 10" tablet in with no issues.

Thanks. I'm on call 24-7 and that is all I need to GTFOD and hit the road. More batteries and a spare charger have been had, plus the DC/AC Inverter in the Jeep is good!
The tablet is supposed to go in the big zipper pocket. There should be plenty of room.
On a seperate note, how are you going to fit the big 8.4 inch tablet into the mount on your controller?
If you already have that covered, then great, but if not, you should be aware that there are mods to let you fit the Galaxy tab into the mount on your controller. The option I went with was to get a suction cup car mount for tablets which happens to have the same exact same connector as the stock mounting bracket on the back. It's great because it's snap-on, snap-off. Other folks have jimmy rigged various solutions with rubber bands, card board, etc.

Same one I use, I do not know what fellow Solo pilot mentioned it on the Facebook page, however it works great on my Nexus 10 even though it's a little top heavy, and I keep my hand on the tablet when bending down or moving = highly recommended for the money. It's an old tablet, but still working after 2.0.1 Solo App update.
My Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4" also fits well in my controller bracket...

Really? Wow. I don't have the Samsung, but in general I haven't been able to fit any tablet over 7inches.

I should add that this mount doesn't fit in the back pack while attached to the controller. You have to click it off before storage. I lay mine flat on the top before I zip up the bag.

My controller came with a spring loaded bracket that works well with my tablet.
My Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4" also fits well in my controller bracket...
