Mav Pilot 1.2

Having an issue uploading a mission to Mav Pilot 1.2.

The device is connected to Solo, all the telemetry is there, map feed etc.

After I get a home point and create a few waypoints, trying to upload mission and the error says, "No Waypoints were downloaded, would you like to try again". None of the other options work for Refresh, Clear All. The process just times out with error noted above.

Most of the time, when I try to make a "waypoint", the Waypoint option is not available, only get multiple default Home points. the other options, Land, Loiter etc are available, but not to create a way point.

Tried reinstalling app, tried using multiple iOS devices etc.

Anyone advise?

<TLDR> There's a bug in MAV Pilot that can be worked around following the instructions here

    http://www.communistech.com/forums/topic/mav-pilot-1-2-issues/

I already have a fix and some extra improvement to the mission downloading and editing and will post an update to the app as soon and the App Store is accepting submissions again (29th Dec)

If anybody wants to beta test contact me via the Tech Support forum and I will add you to the beta release list

    Thanks...

I have released a new version to the app store, it’s just awaiting approval from Apple.
In the meantime, retry the suggestions I made. If that doesn’t work there must be another problem you experiencing.
Make sure your phone is connect to the Solo Wifi Access point in the iPhone Settings App
Are you using the following settings in MAV Pilot.
      ip 10.1.1.1
      port 14550
      type UDP
When you set them, return to the dashboard, and press the refresh icon in the top right hand corner to connect.
If you can change modes between Loiter (aka Fly) and Alt Hold (aka Fly: Manual) from MAV Pilot you have a good connection between the Solo and MAV Pilot.
You then should be able to download a mission (or HOME position only if there isn’t a mission already loaded) I've tested this with Solo with version 1.2 and it works.

    • All good, it is working now, once I put the correct IP in.

Thanks a lot, will get back with more results.

I can help.  I noticed that problem the other day. If i go and download the mission first, and then add waypoints, it works as expected. I can replicate so I will add a fix.

The workaround is to go and download mission first selecting 'refresh' from the the Mission View

    • There is no mission in there in the first place, re: just purchased so have never put one in.

when I try any of the options under the upload icon, it give the same error.

When you say to download the mission first, what do you mean?

Also, I am trying to upload, and/or refresh when the copter is in the air in loiter mode, is that correct?

    • Developer

it doesn't matter that you are in the air. Tap the 'upload menu' icons and select refresh. If you have no mission it should have at least one entry, the HOME point. then you should be able to add items as expected in the Map View

I have just been trying this out and it looks like when you start the App if you refresh the Mission View first, it will download the home point, then you can then add the waypoints in the Map View. you'll know if it's working correctly as the proper waypoint icon shows and not the Home one.

I'll create a fix, and have that released as soon as the App Store takes submissions again.

    • So I'm clear.

Arm the copter, go to Mission View, select Refresh from the upload menu.

Then create waypoints in the map view, then go back to mission view and attempt to upload mission?

    • Developer

      Yes, that should work.

You only need to have at least armed once, so that the APM has a stored home position in its memory. You don't need to be armed when creating a mission. When you do arm MAV Pilot gets the current arming location as that will be the RTL Home location

Thanks for reporting, I have a fix for the problem for the next release. it won't require a Mission 'Refresh' before entering WP.
