Solo gimbal tilt feature on Tower (Droid planner3)

I was going through all the buttons and menus and setting on Tower while connected to Solo for my own self-education purposes and I made a little, but I think very useful discovery.

I haven't seen anywhere posted of this feature in this forum, or in 3DR Solo (mod) users groups on facebook.

So, my discovery is how to tilt the camera with your Tower application without using you controller. It is very straight simple - just touch on the live video screen and drag it to the bottom.

This is the link of how it is done - https://youtu.be/JatRSozqQC8

I tried to pan the camera, but it didn't moved when I dragged to the side. At least for now I guess.

Is it something new, or did I missed anything?

In my opinion this feature is cool. I'am excited to find something new :)

  • Cool discovery.  I've also been connecting Mission Planner to my Solo while I have the app and Tower running...useful capabilities to explore!

  • That is very interesting

I love the idea of tower and its functions.

I am trying to set mine up but I get is "connection failed"

Do I need to pick up a special adaptor, or missing a step for wireless

    • HI, Nelson,

When you open Tower app go to the Settings and there search for "Telemetry Connection Type", click on that and then choose "UDP". This will work to connect Tower to Solo.
