White-screened controller

Got my Solo yesterday, charged everything up, updated everything with current s/w, took it for its maiden launch.  Got lift-off and then the Solo lost connection to the controller and immediately landed itself.  The controller is now stuck with a white display.

I've tried pulling the battery, I've plugged it into the charger, I've tried holding the power button, I've tried to do a factory reset (which did nothing), but it seems bricked.  When not plugged in, display is black, if I press the power button, it displays white, but that's it.  When it is plugged in, it just displays white.

I've done a bunch of searching, but haven't found anyone with this problem...  Thoughts?

I've opened a ticket with 3DR, but got the current "1-3 days" message.  It sounds like I should maybe give them a call instead, but thought I'd ask the world here to see if anyone else has experienced this.

  • Over last week, I was able to spend more time with the Solo, and see if I could make any progress to debug the problem...

I opened up the controller, unglued the SD card, and replaced the OS with another official version I got from one of 3DRs sites.  Still no luck and no change.

I was able to communicate with 3DR support, and they gave me an RMA, and I'll be shipping it back today.

    • I would not recommend going the email route. I've been going on my 5th day writing back and forth just to get a motor  shipped out. (if that is what is truly needed) What number did you call for support?

    • I never did call them.  By the time I got a chance to look at the Solo again, they had replied.  My experience with them was good, didn't have any problems interacting and they replied pretty quickly to further emails, once they started responding to my ticket.
