Andrew Laird replied to Andrew Laird's discussion Battery voltage rises during flight
"I did some more measuring with the board on last night and here is what I found.
I am supplying the board with power by using the voltage going through the receiver along the servo lines.
I am also bypassing the receiver and sending that voltage…"

Andrew Laird replied to Andrew Laird's discussion Battery voltage rises during flight
"I'm not using a BEC.  I've never needed one on this system.  My engine is gas powered and (as I understand it) a BEC is used for electric powered engines.
However - that may be my problem.  If the voltage powering the board is the same voltage that…"

Andrew Laird replied to Andrew Laird's discussion Battery voltage rises during flight
"More info:

I am using the default setup from here.  I have it set up for option 3 "Measuring the total battery voltage only."
I used the packaged 3.9k resistor and soldered it across the top voltage divider pads.  The 10k resistor is already on…"

Andrew Laird replied to Andrew Laird's discussion Xbee 900 Kit - Lights, but No Telemetry
"Alright!
We finally have live telemetry!
I was able to narrow it down to the air side Xbee's DIDO pin (the out pin from the board).
Mike, your idea of doing continuity checks between the pins and leads on the board was great.
The connection between…"

Andrew Laird replied to Andrew Laird's discussion Xbee 900 Kit - Lights, but No Telemetry
"Just tried a loopback test looping the In/Out wires that go from the air side Xbee into the APM board together.

I send data from the laptop. See the Tx light flicker on the ground side Xbee, see the DO light flicker on the airside Xbee and…"

Andrew Laird replied to Andrew Laird's discussion Xbee 900 Kit - Lights, but No Telemetry
"Is it a valid test to plug in the air side interface board to the APM, start up the board and see if the DI/DO lights come on? Or do those lights only flicker if the Xbee module is plugged in?

Just to reiterate I see no DI/DO lights on the airside…"

I've been running the APM board in simulation mode with a HIL setup for about two weeks now and am consistenly seeing the altitude Error end up about 10 meters below the target. It settles there just fine and seems to be happy knowning that it's low…
