About Me:

Old retired guy who's wanted a drone for a while and spontaneously bought a DJI Mini 3 Pro while at Costco about a month ago. Having lots of fun learning to fly it and think my interest will soon lead me into wanting to build one of my own. I get much more fishing pleasure while fishing with my hand built fly rod, hand made flies and leaders all which I built 40 years ago and plan to build another real nice 5wt rod this winter for around $250 which would set me back a $1000 at least if someone else made it. I'm sure I would find the same satisfaction flying a drone I made myself as well.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

When I was a kid we played around with early RC planes and a lot of rockets. I used to wish we could rig up a camera to take aerial photos and now I can take great ones with my new drone. I'm still into film cameras and have a couple of Canon AE-1s and lots of lens etc but have nothing against digital. Been sitting around since retiring a few years back and needed an excuse to get outside and be more active so last May got a loan to pay off bills and buy a little 12' tinny I go fishing with at least twice a week now. The drone gets me out even more and I want to use it to get video of me catching fish.

Born in Vancouver, BC, in 1954. Raised in Richmond, BC then moved to northern Alberta in '01 and bought a small acreage where we still reside.
