About Me:

I am a retired engineer. I am developing The Rapunzel Drone System.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I have been approached by a company that makes and installs fall arrest systems. They want to place messenger lines at remote aerial fastening locations so they can pull weight bearing ropes in place. I want to develop a drone system for placing a messenger lines in an aerially mounted eyebolt or over a spar or tree limb. There are a number of ways to do it I think but have not seen any turn-key options. The idea I describe here a call a Rapunzel for obvious reasons. A friend of mine suggests it is a reverse Rapunzel. I am thinking of a drone that will keep itself directly above a fiducial. The fiducial would be below the desired attachment point just off to one side from the ring spar or limb. The operator controls would only allow up and down and which direction the drone is pointing. The drone would carry the messenger line and a projectile launcher. Once lined up with the target the projectile launcher would shoot the projectile pulling the messenger cord through the ring or over the spar or limb. With the messenger line now in place Rapunzel Drone is done. The weight bearing line can now be pulled aloft into place. I would appreciate any help or guidance you might have to offer.
