About Me:
I have been designing and building electronic systems since the early 1960s, beginning with a self-built shortwave radio. I taught electronics at Purdue University for five years and spent 36 years at Tektronix working in advanced instrumentation and engineering roles. I have been a licensed amateur radio operator (WA9ONY) since 1965 and earned my pilot certificate in 1971. Over my career, I have worked with more than 15 programming languages and a wide range of microcontrollers and sensors, including 9-degree-of-freedom IMUs and precision instrumentation devices.
Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest
I am currently working toward my FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and am interested in designing and building a small unmanned aircraft system (sUAS). My focus is on understanding the full system—from propulsion and sensors to control software and operational safety.
