FernRF commented on FernRF's blog post New PCB Moxon antennas, small FPV HAT video
"Not quite yet ;) Was it image clipping or latency you were interested in? Have you otherwise been using the RaspberryPi camera? Rgds, FernRF"

"@Tommy: We'll try and do that in the coming time. I am guessing that you're interested in latency/image-clipping(?)

Hi allFor those of you that use the US 915 Mhz ISM band or the EU 868 Mhz ISM band for video, telemetry etc. we have two new antenna offerings:868 Mhz and 915 Mhz PCB Moxon-style antennas. Why a PCB Moxon? Well, this layout is easy to manufacture…

FernRF commented on Kieran's blog post Using APSync to Build a Long Range Digital Video Link
"APSync might theoretically be used with a two-version version of the software for this project:

We have been working on a two-way version of the software for the FPV HAT but have…"

FernRF commented on FernRF's blog post New FPV option - FPV HAT for Raspberry Pi
"@AndrewZ: Encryption is per-packet. So one bit error will affect the whole packet. But there are many packets per second, so in practice it equals a larger number of "normal" errors which the h.264 decoder handles fairly well."

"@Andrew: We'll try and give some indication of latency in an upcoming video. Image degrades fairly gracefully, also with encryption enabled.

FernRF commented on FernRF's blog post New FPV option - FPV HAT for Raspberry Pi
"@JeanLeFlambeur: Sure. You are right about the specs. And yes, -88dBm is usable. Its just that the SiLabs software has this limit, combined with the fact that we never managed to push it much beyond 500 kbit.

FernRF commented on FernRF's blog post New FPV option - FPV HAT for Raspberry Pi
"@FernRF: Its true that the data sheet says 1 mbit. And the hardware might even support it. But SiLabs configuration software only allows initialization up to 500 kbit. I suspect that the receive sensivity gets so low that it isn't worth it. But if…"

"@JeanLeFlambeur: Come to think of it, your problems might related to some challenges we had earlier on. It is possible to run the si4463 chip outside the specified module PA freq range. In that case its only the si4463 chip inside which transmits.…"

FernRF commented on FernRF's blog post New FPV option - FPV HAT for Raspberry Pi
"@JeanLeFlambeur: Sorry to hear that. We haven't seen that issue. Current products are made with version 2.1. Only issue have been some early problems with the 915 mhz variant. But these were caught by our QC. We buy the modules directly from the…"

"PS: Forgot mention that we used an inverted vee antenna on transmitter and a pcb-moxon antenna on receiver. Both pretty compact and cost-effective.

@Pascal P.: Thanks! We're working on videos demonstrating setup and longer-range trials. So far the ground-rover use case has been tested but not video'ed. Using the 868mhz variant and…"
