George replied to George's discussion Has anyone heard of the major spraying UAS manufacturers approaching the EPA about minimum application volumes? in Agricultural UAVs
"Here is what I would consider the UAV's worst case scenario for performance in the US. It is a growth regulator/sprout stop called Royal MH-30. We spray it mostly on potatoes here. West of the Rocky Mountains (where I am) this product has a 10…"

George replied to George's discussion Has anyone heard of the major spraying UAS manufacturers approaching the EPA about minimum application volumes? in Agricultural UAVs
"What is a gas gun/splatter gun, never heard of them? Always learning something new!

I assume that in Japan they either didn't have minimum volume statements, or they catered the labels to the UAS with ULV statements.

I just put out a growth…"

In order for small UAS systems to be productive in the US, the current minimum total spray volumes per acre stated on the various chemical labels will have to be changed. Have any manufacturer's approached the Environmental Protection Agency about…

George replied to Tamas's discussion NDVI survey effect on financials in Agricultural UAVs
"Here is an example of boots on the ground.
I just finished the above post and opened my email to find this pest alert for cereal leaf beetle in wheat. Notice the scouting suggestion of walking in a "w" and stopping at 5-10 locations, and counting…"

George replied to Tamas's discussion NDVI survey effect on financials in Agricultural UAVs
"I think I'm saying it depends on the exact situation, on an exact crop, with an exact commodity price to be had at the end of a season.
Aerial surveys are certainly useful to a point because I have customers that pay for them now. But the question…"

George replied to Tamas's discussion NDVI survey effect on financials in Agricultural UAVs
"From the information I have gathered over the years from customers about savings from traditional scouting and existing use of infrared imagery taken from aircraft, the thoughts are that it is too variable to pin down an exact average.
Thoughts are;…"

George replied to George's discussion Has anyone ever seen a UAV doing dry application (seeding or fertilizing)? in Agricultural UAVs
"That's interesting.
What countries are deforesting and not planting back or putting pavement down in the tree's place?
I was involved in the commercial timber industry in the U.S. putting dry fertilizer on pine trees, mostly in the Southeastern…"

"Got pix?
When you say fully automated, you mean like an auto gate slaved to a GPS that uses a GIS shape file for field boundary identification, and then it will turn on and off itself?"

I know that Yamaha has a dry dispersal system for the RMAX and they have apparently been toying with seeding rice with them in Japan, but I can't find any pictures, stats, or video of that being performed. Anyone ever seen this?

George replied to Pierre's discussion Different kinds of sprayers used in agricultural UAVs in Agricultural UAVs
"You're spot on with both thoughts. Droplet drift distance for sure and primarily, but certainly droplet evaporation as well for high temp/low humidity situations especially for droplet spectrums below 250 microns.

If you fly higher than that and it…"

George replied to Pierre's discussion Multirotor v.s. helicopter in agricultural UAVs field for pesticide spraying in Agricultural UAVs
"I suppose one drawback of getting larger machines that people are standing near to operate and flag/spot for is that you can kill someone. They got one in Korea with an RMAX a few years back.image.jpg"
