"That's a real problem and a clever idea, but I bet it is a hassle (and unattractive) to put the sensor on top and run all the necessary wires.. I also wonder if e.g. my ceiling (with bumpy textured plaster) would be a good enough surface to measure…"
"Ahh yes - upside down puts ML on the Left side :) Describing the "ML" and "MR" labels in the directions and reminding us of the upside-down bit might help some others also....
But I still don't know which way each plug should go in the socket -…"
"I don't have an RC controller so I can't test that way. When I run in autonomous mode, the motors are flailing away but it doesn't go to the beacon, and I don't know if the motors are connected properly because the directions just say to test it in…"
"The instructions don't specify how to connect the motors - can you update them, and tell us here? I'm trying to debug autonomous mode with no RC. I have my motors connected so the "-" wire connects by the "ML" (or "MR") label on the board, but have…"
"I'll add that it is very helpful to also enable the "Serial Monitor" window in the Arduino software. It will show status information at startup, and can be used for debugging. See the many "Serial.print" statements in the code."
"Sorry to hear that, Donald! I've had two 26" helium balloons fly out the door after I carefully ballasted them for neutral buoyancy - they're very lively :/ I've also managed to keep at least one lucky one continuously buoyant for 11 months!"
"Thanks, Donald. I continued the blimpduino thread on your comment wall. We should try to get this thing documented more completely so we can get them actually piloting right. It is fun to see it whirring around though."
