APC220 for telemetry in place of xbee

Hello

diid somebody tried to use an APC220 in place of the xbee shield and module to calibrate the quadCopter ? Would it function or not ? Seems to be the way to go for a wider range (1km) ! No ?

is there plans to support more than 6 ppm output for using more escs? would it be something solved in a future code release or is it sois it something that will be solved in a future code release or is itsomething to do more with the hardware ? plan
