About Me:

I have been in business, as a professional visual communications specialist ( photographer and videographer ) for 45 years. I have spent more than 10,000 hours shooting from our 25' tethered blimp, helicopters and fixed wing aircraft. I was born to fly. I work with the construction, legal, advertising, marketing, industrial communities. I shoot with the 80 and 100 million pixel PhaseOne cameras and the Blackmagic 4K video systems, editing with Avid.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I would like to create an octocopter aircraft that is flying saucer-shaped, with ducted and screened, multi-bladed props, a parachute, deployable pontoons, onboard constant LED lights, for video and Lumedyne flash head(s)for stills, a beacon for flyaway recovery, mapping software and super-controlled airspeeds and directions. The camera gimbal must allow for shooting from on top of the aircraft as well as below the aircraft. I like Freefly Alta 8 but feel that I can do better. I want to be able to manage all aircraft components, in case it fails while on the job. I like the MoVI10 and 15 platforms and the radio transmitter. I like the idea of flying from a FPV consol, using multiple full joysticks, huge screens and lots of visual data.

"I have a blimp bag, that was used for a tethered, non-motorized, photo operation, that held about 35 pounds of still and video gear.  It was Helium filled and Kevlar roped, that went to 700 feet, agl but was usually used at the 100' - 300' agl…"
