About Me:

I am a Electrical Control Systems Engineer - industrial mostly, and have always been interested in "flying machines", everything about them, from big ones to little ones, rotors and wings. I am equally versed in programming, electronics, mechanical design and control systems - so I know how damn hard UAVs are to create but thats what I love about them.

Please tell us a bit about your UAV interest

I have an R/C plane I have never flown and had for the last 10 years because of life's wonderful interruptions - but a few weeks ago online I "bumped" into the "UAV Outback Challenge", I was instantly obsessed and found a whole world of UAVs out there. It is a fusion of all of my passions, flight, control systems, electronics, programming. I have put together a team of three and hope to enter next year with our own UAV. I am not one for shortcuts and we are going to create our own, I have gone through a few of the open source sourcecode and believe that we have a lot to give. I want to create a UAV that is able to be used by rural fire brigades - low cost, no expertise to use and be able to relay fire positions and movements.

"Can you run HIL simulation with just the APM and no IMU oil pan?
If not, is there a reason?

Thanks,
Richard."
