I have entered DARPA's VTOL Heavy Lift Challenge and have a new concept for developing VTOL lift. It consists of disc-wing with dorsal impeller. Lift would be provided by the pressure decrease across the disc-wing's surface. A peripheral airflow reverser directs some of the airflow back to the impeller to be recycled. The idea is to recycle some portion of the airflow momentum back to the impeller. Hopefully this would increase for a give hp or decrease the hp required for hover.
