Roger Ronald replied to Seppo's discussion RFD900, RFD900+ - New long range radio modem
"Ianzo,

I'm running 2.61. Since you're running a way different number, I suspect you have something other than the RFD900x.
Most of the RFD FW updates are to add features. Unless you need a new feature in the new version, I wouldn't bother.

"If you have the power on the radio set to a value that's high enough (+30dbm), you're probably exceeding the amount that USB is supposed to supply. USB 1 and USB 2 supply half an amp. USB 3 supplies .9. The RFD 900x can draw one amp peak. With a…"

"Thought I should update the thread on selecting between a primary and backup radio PPM stream.
I actually built the hardware to use the RFD900X's link status and another GPIO pin as switch inputs. However, link status is a 1 second square wave (so I…"

"Kent,
This is excellent news. However.....
Where can I download 2.61? The web site (http://files.rfdesign.com.au/firmware/) has 2.55, 2.53, and 2.60 as point-to-point firmware downloads. No 2.61.
I'm running 2.60 and I get this from ATI5?:
ATIRFD…"

"I would also like to make a request for a RFD900x peer-to-peer firmware change. An easy one. :-)
I'd like to be able to associate one of the GPIO pins with "link state" (high=link connected, low=link lost or vice versa).
I know this data is readily…"

"An update with some information I would have found useful. I won't state these as entirely definitive, but they may prove helpful to other folks:

Firmware needs to be updated on each radio without an operating link.
I'm guessing that the Modem…"

"I never loaded an RFD900 driver.
In reality, the drivers are for the FTDI, not the radio. Many of the cloned FTDI cables apparently do not work. Are you using a legit FTDI cable with a 3.3 v interface? Do you have something else with a serial…"

"Andrew,
I've had problems getting some of the tools to work as well.
I've been able to use the Settings window.
I get the same error as you when attempting to use the Terminal window.
And I can't ever seem to get the RSSI window going.
But, as far…"

"I've been struggling with this question too.
One way that definitely works is to tether the FRSky X9D to the RFD900 using the trainer cord. In the trainer setup on OpenTX, you can specify the number of PPM channels and the length of the CPPM frame…"

Roger Ronald replied to Seppo's discussion RFD900, RFD900+ - New long range radio modem
"Michael,

Thanks for the scope shot. I'll note that it appears to show 9 channels and I have heard other people indicated that's the limit for FRSky.

But, I don't think it's definitive for the RFD900x radio yet....if you only put 8 (or 9) channels…"

How many PPM channels are support by the RFD900x?  8 or 12 (or something else?)"

"There is a parameter to keep the plane from speaking for a delay period. Set the TELEM_DELAY parm to the number of seconds you desire. You’ll see “no input data” for that length of time, but it then starts up. I had problems with MinimOSD failing…"

"I plan to use the software hack to do a 1 second intervelometer. Not as good as pressing the button manually, but it will capture stills on anything that I hold in my view for a second or more.
