The autopilot definitely needs some tuning.....but I'll get it..I let my friend fly it...and he plowed it into the ground...but luckily the awesomeness of the frame allowed me to duct tape it and fly more! Thanks for all of the help!
Well its pretty late here (11:13), and all of the sudden, I REMEMBERED! The story goes something like this...it was probably about a good 3-4 years ago when I was a young'n ;) and I was bombarding Chris with questions. He was getting a little bit finicky but, alas, I had one more question. So I told him something to the effect of "If you answer this final question I'll name my airplane the Chris flyer." I gave my airplane its maiden flight the other day (the one I have been tinkering with for 3+ years and probably cost a fortune) and it crashed...
so I bought an easy star and decided to do things right and use it as a surrogate body with a little forgiveness. So, without further adieu, I present to you all! The CHRIS FLYER! Which should hopefully be flown tomorrow (without GPS) (http://www.diydrones.com/forum/topics/baud-rate-change?xg_source=activity)
While searching on my second favorite blog site, I stumbled upon a commercial 3-D printer for under.......$70,000? nope $30,000? wrong again! $3,000? WRONG! for under $1,000 the average Joe can now have his or her own 3-D printer! Unlike traditional 3-D printers which melt layer after layer of expensive nylon the CupCake CNC machine extrudes layers of HDPE or ABS plastic! The only negative I see out of this machine is the extrusions are about 1/2 of a millimeter instead of .1 millimeters. Then again I would be willing to sacrifice a little bit of detail for a lot of savings! Now if any part of your UAV breaks then all you have to do is "print" a new one! here is the website to the wiki (www.wiki.makerbot.com) and to the store(www.store.makerbot.com). Also there is another website called "Thingiverse" (www.thingverse.com) which is basically a youtube for all the "things" people create in CAD programs! This project was inspired by a project for affordable printing called all machines a RepRap machines, but this machine is a RepStrap which means it can actually print out a RepRap machine. (www.RepRap.Org)IF THIS IS A RE-POST LET ME KNOW! ill remove this if it is.

I just recently got done watching "Prototype This!", they finished making a UAV that drops a life preserver within swimming distance of the victim! The victim wore a device that transmitted its location to a base station. This could be used as a valuable tracking device for police work because the UAV creates its own way points in order to follow and observe a suspect. The top programmers name is Joe Grand, his website is Grand Idea Studio (for those who are interested). If this is a double post I will remove it! (i seem to be beat to the punch when it comes to this stuff!)

They haven't began selling them yet ): so your gonna have to book mark it or RSS it (if you can) for future updates!P.S. The website was opened on October 1st 2008

As many of you know, the price of commercial UAVs are through the roof . Right now is a great time to sell your uavs. They're cheaper than commercial uavs so they will sell easily to anyone who wants a UAV. The point I am trying to make is not for prophit but for devlopement. So we can make bigger, better, and more powerful UAVs.

Ok bear with me here because i have no drawings or diagrams. Basically this is a device designed [thought up] to transmit or receive or tranceive (im not sure how to spell it). Basically this will transmit information about your aircraft from speed to altitude to lat-long basically this is connected to a receiver attached to an OLED screen so you wear it on your wrist and get all of your information on your wrist instead of a ground station in a big van thats wasting gas. If it happens to be a transceiver inside of the airplane you could say activate your emergency return home in case of an emergency. So if anyone with good programing knowledge and some decent funds should try this it just might work out.

Basically here is the site it is a short range inferred radar that could be used for a failsafe in case your uav gets close to the ground. However it is slightly bulky but that can be easily modified because it was made for parking cars. This includes a servo with an inferred transceiver or receiver and transmitter separate, i haven't really looked into it very far. If you are board and want to serf the web go to "Hackaday.com". Thats where i found the range finder and is a great place to hack if you want to.
