  • Interesting looking Quad with some neat capabilities.

I would like to know how the Pixhawk-2 fits into DIYDrones Open Source Open Hardware scenario.

    Is it?

When do we, many of us people who have spent a lot of time working with and evolving it, get to find out if it still belongs to us at all or not.

    And what is it?

  • ok...lets see if I have this right.

The DJI Phantom3 has a dedicated Light Bridge link, already included in the price.
With cam and gimbal also included.

The 3DR Solo, depends on the GOPRO WIFI connection for the actualy HD link. (not included)

And they expect the Gopro to go 800feet? Specially in populated area with lots of WIFI interference...hmmmmmm

The only interesting thing about the Solo is the controller.
A nice departure from the plastic toy DJI includes.

If only the DJI ran on ArduCopter and included the 3DR controller.
For $1300...that would be the perfect package.

  • Good to see a funky designed quadcopter this time around, the IRIS looked antiquated from the get go.

Features look good, can`t wait for more info and and flight footage.

Not so sure about using a Gopro, thought a custom cam might have been the go this time around.

  • I'm sick with envy. How did you keep this under the radar.

  • It is not a full 360 3 axis gimbal. Its main function is to stabilize the yaw corrections in flight. Panning will be done by yawing the quad - I assume it will smooth that out as well. At least that is my understanding.

  • I would ask them to sell this control system separately including the tablet app. After all gopro is just a gopro.... we want to be able to do the "cable cam" and "orbit" just as easily as with solo on our hexas and octas instead of plotting a bunch of waypoints... or maybe an auto waypoint generator for droidplanner2?

  • So the third gimbal axis smooths yaw transitions? I can see that working out well for the market they're targeting.

  • The preorder site one shows 999 with the gimbal the other shows 1399?   Does 999 include the gimbal ?

  • The Solo is $999, gimbal is $399. Camera obviously not included.

  • I twitted them a few minutes ago, they said that the UAV know where the legs are, so when you are panning it will yaw to avoid getting the legs into the shot. So the system is a mix of 3-axis gimbal and yaw, I guess.
