Pbreed replied to AJ152's discussion Reach RTK vs Piksi?
"I tried a lot of expensive commercial soutions about  5 years ago with a helicopter and a hovering rocket.
None of the L1 only soutions were reliable and robust.

I eventually spent the $ to get a L1.L2 trimble setup and it was both stable and…"

Pbreed commented on Greg Dronsky's blog post Can someone please inform guys in Utah there is an invention called drones?
"When the drone can take 400lbs 200miles round trip get back to us...
If there is easy access to the area, just use a truck and bucket and dump them in the lake. "

Pbreed commented on Craig Elder's blog post Pirates! UAV Solutions violates Open Source Licenses
"Clearly if they have hardware under the OSHWA CC-BY-SA 3.0 they have to release it.
The GPL is less clear.... if they provide source to their customers and one of their customers releases the binary without source, the customer is in violation of…"

Pbreed commented on Craig Elder's blog post Pirates! UAV Solutions violates Open Source Licenses
"There is NO requirement in the GPL license to release the code to anyone but their customers.
At that point if a customer wants to release it to everyone they can do so, but unless you are a customer you have no grounds to ask that they release…"

Pbreed commented on matucha123's blog post Dangerous close-up with aircraft braking rules
"Note there is an exception to the 500ft rule, to take off and land, and there is no rule that says you must take off and land at an airport.. IE its perfectly legal to take off and land on your own property or property you have permission to use in…"

Pbreed replied to hft seeker's discussion closing this thread
"You have shown up here  asking the group how to do a very hard problem with no visible skill of your own.  The solution you seek has an infinite number of non-legal uses and you are very evasive about what its going to be used for.,,,,This is not a…"

Pbreed commented on Thorsten's blog post u-blox M8N - ground planes, antennas and positional accuracy
"How the GPS is setup will make a differnce. A GPS set to be staionary will do differnt filtering than a device designed to be on a dynamic platofrm.  One wonders if the 3DR is poorer becayuse its setup for dynamic operation, where the others are…"

Pbreed replied to Aaron S's discussion 3DR Non-existent Support. What do I have to do to get hold of 3DR to amend and check my order??
"3DR just plain does not care.  They have had order fulfillment and organizational problems for more than 2 years.
Its not rocket science to run an online store and if they had any intention of fixing it they would have. As much as I like the…"

Pbreed commented on Emlid's blog post Reach: affordable centimeter-level precise RTK GPS on Indiegogo
">We flew planes with L1 RTK and RTKLIB and the resulting tracks were really smooth.

Different dynamics and different vibrations..."

Pbreed commented on Emlid's blog post Reach: affordable centimeter-level precise RTK GPS on Indiegogo
"The hardware for L2 recievers is not that much more than that for good L1 recievers, so if you buy dual freq capable hardware with L2 turned off its only a few hundred $, but if you turn on the L2 its at least $1500 more for the "turn on" code. When…"

Pbreed commented on Emlid's blog post Reach: affordable centimeter-level precise RTK GPS on Indiegogo
"How is the swift navigation RTK GPS working out?
Real easy to do L1 RTK on something that is not dynamic, much harder to not have cycle slips on a vibrating moving platform.  Until one of these low cost units includes L2, its not going to work well…"
