The AUVSI organizers have offered to get us a flying field in San Diego for an amateur UAV fly-in on Sunday, June 8th, the day before their big annual UAV conference and expo starts. Before I take them up on this, I want to gauge interest: are you in the San Diego area or going there for AUVSI and might want to fly on that Sunday? (BTW, I'm giving a keynote at AUVSI, talking about the rise of open source and amatuer UAV development)

I'm afraid we only got three UAV fliers who could make it (we love AP guys and spectators, but we wanted to focus on UAVs this time), and that's not enough to justify coming down two days early. So no fly-in in San Diego this year.

I'll still be speaking at the conference, and would love to meet up with anyone here who will be there. (PM me)

Meanwhile, our next fly-in will be in the SF Bay area this summer. Date TBA.
  • When and where?
I'm attending AVUSI San Diego and am bringing "The Shot Getter" along for the trip.
If I hit town in time I'd love to do some AP of the fly in.
  • I'd love to attend a fly-in on Sunday. Is it going to happen?
  • I wont be able to make the fly-in but I would like to meet other UAV'ers in the area.
  • We're there! Not sure where the best place to fly will be, but there are several existing fields that could work.

There is at least one interesting session at AUVSI insofar as DIYDrones types are concerned "Expanding into New Markets: Understanding Barriers to Using Unmanned Systems in Public Safety Applications" on Tuesday the 10th from 1400-1600.
