Just a FYI: this site now does just under 200,000 page views a month, on nearly 50,000 unique visits. Traffic has quadrupled over the past year. On an average day, about 1,500 people will visit. Those that want to contribute join the site, and as a result we add about one member every two hours. We currently have 1,777 members.
A VERY few $s. Our Adsense bar on the right does $300-$400 a month. Ning fees are $25 a month (to use our own domain name and run our own ads). So I make just enough money to pay for one batch of buggy PCBs a month, which is a shame since we screw up far more than that ;-). Let's just say that it's a good thing I never intended to make a penny from this hobby, since I've succeeded magnificently!
Seriously, this is an open source project in all senses of the word. If we ever do find ourselves making money, we'll just reinvest it into inventing more stuff to give away.

As a person "in the business", I can appreciate that amount of traffic.
If this was a private site you could be generating a few $.
But then again I guess NING does do alot of the overhead, hosting a network like this.
