ACM Y6 in a desert :)

ACM Y6

Ardu Copter Mega rev.1914

Motors: BC2836 750kv ESC: 30A

Props: Top 10x45 EPP , Bottom 10x45 EPP Composite

3S 5000mah

Jason added a new function to CH6 "magic knob", to control top/bottom speed ratio... Thanks :)

So now we can tune top motors speed, in air, it have 20% window, (80% to 100%). more on that in wiki after ACM goes public :))))

One of the problems in Y6 setup, is vibration from the props :( (you can see it in on-board video)

one solution is to use composite props, I only have 3 of those left :) so I used the black plastic ones on top motors.

the plastic props are too soft :(

Now I need to get all the sand out of the motors :) and make a new GoPro mount :)

start building yours Y6 frames  :)))))))

  • theoretically you want a  (2/3)^(1/4)=0.9  times smaller prop.  so a 9 inch prop

    ( from http://www.mh-aerotools.de/airfoils/propuls2.htm )

    Also you could try using a coarser pitch on the bottom ones since the air approaching them is moving faster than the top ones.  But Whatever!

    Selection of Multiblade Propellers
  • probably a 9.5x4.5 three blade. basicly its downsizing length to compensate for more mass of third blade to keep the motor happy happy ;)

    @Hamish

    What 3-Blade prop will be inequivalent to 10X4.5 2-Blade ?

    Thanks

    @Machina

    That just an overnight campground "Be'erot" at Makhtesh Ramon, Israel. I went hiking there for few days.

    I was planning to take more photos, but it was way too windy :(

    3692202907?profile=originalso its nothing special :)) but I really starting to like, that I can take it any where shoot in the air a do some cool photos :)

  • Could you provide a little background?  The imagery is startling.  What was the event?

    Or pitch
  • i remember seeing a submarine with contra-rotating props, each had different blade numbers to avoid resonance.... so you could maybe try 2 and 3 blade props
  • darren: no, you just need some skill to not break them :D
  • with the motors low like that, shouldnt your legs be a tad longer? i can just barely see them prop dings from here :)
