IOBoard Let's make it better... We need testers...
Awhile ago we made first translating program for IOBoard and since that people have been using it as it was and/or modifying its open software. Now that we have more and more devices supporting FrSky telemetry, converting becomes more fun.
So let's make it. Current roadmap for IOBoard is:
- Have full support for MAVLink/FrSky conversion
- LED driver with configurable patterns
- OpenTX, er9X support
- TLD-02 display support
- Updated Configurator
Currently tested features on Taranis radio:
Heading, Temperature 1, Temperature 2 (shows satellites/fix type), Armed/Disarmed and Throttle values,
Lat/Lon, Altitude, Voltage, Cell volt (avg), Speed
jD-IOBoard can be found from jDrones store
Latest MAVLink/FrSky software is IOBoard_FrSkyMAVLink.v03a
software can also be found from arducodes repository at google code
Let us know how it works and if you have ideas, post it on..

Hello,
Thanks for the great work.
I have an Arduino mini flashed with the V0.4. Data are also on the TARANIS.
But I do not know what should I set the telemetry menu.
Can someone please send an .eepe file for the TARANIS?
regards Peter
Nils,
You know, now that I think about it, it might have been because I was not initiating communications with the 3DR radios to get the info flowing. I had them out of the loop during some of that time cause I have them going thru an OSD board I am testing for someone. I will go back and try it tonight on the original pins I was using and see what happens. I can already guess that that was my main problem....lol..Oh well it was a learning experience for me then. Thanks again!!
Beau
For example I have the following data
Value APM Taranis
gps 3d,11sats 217
a short time later I had 10 sats, 3d fix, with hdop of 1.9 and the transmitter displayed 199
with 10 sats hdop 1.9 I got 217
Can anyone share all of the settings on their taranis radio telemetry menu, or share your config file for your taranis? I am getting data, but other than fuel a lot of it does not make any sense and I suspect it is a function of sensor configuration in the radio.
Thats great news Beau. Though you must have done some other thing wrong before. The rx1 pin on the long side should be the same pin as rx1 on the short side.
@Chris
Sorry but I don't know the answer to your questions. But the various sensor should have a port where the hub should connect and that's where the arduino/ioboard should go. The eflight wiki is a great place to read up on frsky stuff.http://www.eflightwiki.com/eflightwiki/index.php?title=FrSky_Telemetry
Nils,
I want to thank you again for the diagram. After getting home I had telemetry displaying on my Taranis in just a few minutes.

Beau
Nils Högberg thanks for answering my question! One last thing, once I have the smartport vario, where do the rx and tx connections from the ioboard go (perhaps they connect to the data in port)? Can I simultaneously connect two frsky voltage sensors (FLVS-01) to the smartport vario as well, or do I have to wait for the new smartport voltage sensors to do that?
Thanks so much!
Chris
Nils,
No problem, I am guilty of doing the same from time to time. Cool, that is exactly what I needed, thanks. That shows me that I am not hooking it up correctly. I was using the tx and rx on the end of the board where the FTDI hooks up. I plan on using the 3DR radios in conjunction with the Frsky telemetry so data should flow.
Thanks again!!!!
Beau
Doh, sorry about that. Sometimes things just go too fast :)
I dont know if this helps, seems like you connected it correct, but here is how I connected my arduino.
Rember that you have to connect with the 3dr radio to start the mavlink data flow.
Nils,
If the above post was a reply to me, I must point out that I am not using the X8R receiver, I am using a D8R-XP, which I know some guys are hooking straight up to the Arduino, but I can't get it to work. Thanks for replying though.

Beau
