Ok, I can honestly say, that I would never even attempt this with Arducopter.
Check out the AeroQuad website, if you're interested in learning more.

Where did it all go wrong and what happened to this joint venture?

Ellison, if this is a 3dr site then I have no complaint but that isn't what it is advertised as by Chris see this article
It doesn't cost much to run a site so the advertising should suffice but if we make "not for profit" statements then we must consider "conflict of interest"
Finally let's take a step back in time http://aeroquad.com/showthread.php?365-DIY-Drones-is-looking-for-a-... :)
Ive seen that done with the $40 Free Flight controler.

I havent tried it myself with my own quad but I believe it can do it.
Fab, maybe we need another site that has no stake in any particular hardware platform or code. As for non-profit, someone has to pay for the running of these web sites, either by donations or ads.
Jani, yes I was aware of the roots of AC coming from AQ. I've been working with both codes for a year now. Wasn't sure who all the original AQ members were though. Thanks for the info. It's interesting to see the divergent evolution of both codes.
It's too bad we can't get together and have some APIs defined so that we can have easy code sharing between the two. The two are in extreme need of an architecture definition.
I also vote for the "DIYD Store" to be renamed to "3DRobotics Store" so that it is less confusing and does not undermine the purpose and values of this great "not for profit" site.
Yes I agree with Ellison. This is a not for profit site and should not be specifically for 3drobotics hardware. Great to see AeroQuad fighting back, especially since it was one of the first.
Jani, you can do it because you have such a large stock of cheap spares, that doesn't apply to us humble consumers :)
Ellison, Me, Ted, Jose created original ArduCopter (ArduCopter v1 and ArduCopter NG) software and it was based on AeroQuad and Jose's ArduIMU Quad v1 softwares. After that we have moved towards main Ardupilot framework.
If you look more of DIYDrones forums, there are AeroQuad forums running in here. Ok main development is not running here anymore as Ted (and us) has it's own forums for AQ related issues. But yeah it's all opensource.
Ah... will see :) thx
Why not post AQ stuff here, it's all open source, and DIY? I'm looking at doing a hybrid code soon, AQ-AC Frankenstein.
