Note precise track following and functional mission simulator. It helps a lot to confirm on the flying field that everything is set up OK. In the worst case, it will fly to customizable rethome zone and automatically return to takeoff point but the flight would be wasted.

    Thank you. Funny part, the whole simulations are performed INSIDE the autopilot. The external software just displays, but I have also a development simulator that behaves like 'GPS gone wrong'.

    Anybody thinking of using a UAV for survey work would find the ability to simulate the flight critical. I know of at least one incident where a operator messed up his datum when inputting way points (absolute) and almost lost the UAV except for its out of range error trigger. I personally simulate flights on all occasions and then check the flight log against the original flight plan.
