3689420157?profile=originalWe've released APM 2.22, which has a bunch of bug fixes and improvements. MAVLink startup is now much faster and will work even if the hardware fails the calibration test. A bug in the driver for the new 5883 magnetometer is fixed. Various (mostly minor) navigation bugs fixed. MAVLink comms are also improved.

It's now available for download via the Mission Planner. Remember to go through the setup process again after loading (always a good idea after loading new code).

For those who need the source code, it's here. The next version of the code, 2.23, will have full camera control (both autonomous stabilization and point-of-interest following and a full suite of MAVLink commands) implemented.

Meanwhile, the Mission Planner continues to improve in leaps and bounds, thanks to the tireless work of Michael Oborne (subject of the next Meet the Developers post). New features that have been introduced in recent versions include:

  • MAVLink logging is now on by default. Every MAVLink connection you make will be logged
  • You can record your video! Just right click on the HUD as shown in the image above.
  • Quadcopter hardware-in-the-loop simulation now works on both Xplane and FlightGear, just like the plane HIL sim
  • Almost all APM and AC2 setup can be done via MAVLink. No need for the CLI switch or DIP switches!
  • Lots of other performance and useability enhancements.

  • I see the recorded video type is .avi recorded at 10 fps. What software will edit this file. I have premiere pro and it is unsupported. What are you using to edit?
  • Here is an improved version, it adds camera support to APM1280 boards, but you nedd to disable GPS autodetection (the patch already does this for the mediatec GPS)

    Parameter based configuration (APM_Camera branch)

  • im still haveing problems loading the firmware it goes ok till the end when i get a box that says ---upload successful but verify failed and the mission planner fails and i cannot close that box :( ive tried 3 laptops and about 20 times and still get this fault has anyone have any ideas please

i have to force the mission planner to close and i cannot connect to the APM

    im using APM1280

  • PS: To get the makefile to work, you need to define ARDUINO and SKETCHBOOK paths on your environment.

This is very easy on eclipse. I will post instructions on how to do that on the wiki as soon as I get commit rights ;)

  • Chris: Richie has not answered yet to my "camera control" 22Kb patch.

Is there anyone else I can send it to ?

I also sent a makefile patch to fix compilation on windows systems to some developers and have no answer yet.

I guess everyone is really busy, I'll just keep sending patches until I get commit rights :)

In the meanwhile, here are they:

    Parameter based configuration (APM_Camera branch)

Fix "make" on windows (trunk branch)

  • Would you recommend that I go to 2.0.39 for both my Quad and Hexa?

    Thank you for the correction.

  • I feel the same way.

Allen: APM is for planes, not multicopters. Same hardware, but different codebases.
  • I just updated missionplanner to 1.0.54 and then connected my Quad and Hexa to upload 2.22.  When I entered FIRMWARE and clicked on the Quad ICON it asked if I wanted to upload AC 2.0.39 Beta Quad?  What did I miss?

    Thanks
