I would like to announce the first RC1 release of APM Planner 2.0. This is a cross platform Ground Control Station to accompany the consumer release of Pixhawk and Iris for APM:Plane, APM:Copter & APM:Rover. More information can be found here on the APM Forums

Please post support requests to http://ardupilot.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=82

Happy Holidays, hope everybody is enjoying some flying :)

@Joe: APM Planner 2.0 is a cross platform solution for APM software. It's a desktop solution. Tablet GCS are another solution. Each meets a different need and requirements. AP2 (we are using this as the abbreviation) is less likely to  work with older APM SW release versions. If you have HW that can run newer versions on the APM code, it will work. That said, there is nothing inherently stopping the code from working with older releases, feel free to contribute those changes as required. see https://github.com/diydrones/apm_planner for the code

  • Hi Bill,
Does the APM Planner 2.0 replace the Ardupilot / Arducopter etc suite? Or is it just another way to go? What are major differences? Why should I switch? Will it work tith the old APM 1?
  • finally a mission planner for mac. Awesome work!

@mike: yes, the ardupilot.com download site date doesn't update automatically. I will discuss with the site owners how we can fix that, but the link is always the latest stable build. You can download daily builds also from http://firmware.diydrones.com/Tools/APMPlanner/daily/ and they correspond to most up to date fixes (but may have other unverified issues)

If you do raise issues on github, please post the version you are using. That would be great help. You can find the identifier in the help debug console view

Thanks Bill, nice work. Might want to increment the "Date Posted" at http://ardupilot.com/downloads/?did=90

It still reads "December 14, 2013", and there is no other method (short of downloading) to know if one has the latest version, as far as I could see.

As Bill mentions in the APM Forums http://ardupilot.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=82

  • Hi Bill,

Congratulations, great job. Is there a forum where we can ask support questions etc. (Other than submitting issues in Github)?

  • Wohhoo, now this is a x-mas gift. Thanks to all for the hard work making a cross platform GCS available that works nicely with APM.

  • Terrific bit of software, will take it for a test drive in the Italian mountains today!

@Sergio: please raise issues here https://github.com/diydrones/apm_planner/issues

There is support in the code for multiple MAVs, but it needs some testing before being production ready. if you do test, please let us know what happens and we will happily work out the fixes. :)
