For those who don't want to be waiting for it, here's your your best option: Order it and be one of the firsts to receive it (As always FIFO service).

Go for it here: http://store.diydrones.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=BR-0012-01

It will be released during the next week (Sorry for the long delay!).

BTW the pictures is just for display purposes, the final color you will receive is blue and has the latest improvements. ;-)

Np, and just call me Jani or jp :P

One big reason why we first do quad/hexas is that with tri setup you need to have special motor mount for one of the motors, this way we can tilt motor and it will act a bit like rudder. With 4 + motors we do not have this problem and we can use centrifuge forces to act as rudder for us. Eg. in 4 engine quad model we have 2 CW and 2 CCW rotating motors as working as group. Like i posted in here http://www.diydrones.com/photo/arducopter-motor-info?context=user by speeding one group and slowing down another we can made quad to turn either left or right, depends on which group speeds up and which slows down. "rudder" control this way is quire accurate

Hi Woranon, Hmm tricopter now that might be challenging due there is no any software for tricopter and APM. Datasheets and things like that you can find DIY Drones shop, if you look details of OilPan. It's there and then there are Google code base for ArduPilot http://code.google.com/p/ardupilot/ also our Quad copter code pages has some information http://code.google.com/p/arducopter/ tho we are just starting to add more infor to ArduCopter which is DIY Drones official multirotor platform. But even that does not support Tricopter setups. Maybe in future who knows but it will take some time...

@Wallace. We are working with the Remzibi team on a new version that will be easily integrated into ArduPilot Mega, sharing the same GPS.
  • It would save a lot of courier costs if we can order everthing for the ArduCopter from a single source. Please supply us with a list of parts to buy (including suppliers) for the ArduCopter project. Which GPS?, Sonar sensor?, Magnetometer? What motors are mostly recommended? I would like to start ordering so that by the time the firmware are released I have all (or at least most) or the parts.
    Thanx for this great project,
    Hein
  • The US has export regulations. I'm not a lawyer but I think it just makes buying/selling ardupilot much easier if one party isn't selling everything.
  • Hi Mark!
Thanks for your reply! What do you mean with "They do this to get around the restrictions on selling autopilots" Who wants to control that? and why? DIY store is not allowed to sell it?
  • Mauro, I'm not sure about the GPS but you can't buy the Ardupilot mega from the DIYDrones store. You have to buy it from sparkfun. They do this to get around the restrictions on selling autopilots.
  • Hi folksssssssss!
I will order the things for this project and I want to know what GPS is better... MediaTek or ublox5??
About the Ardupilot Mega... is it available at DIYDRONES Store? I couldnt find it... just to order all from diy store ;)
