Arsov RC Technology is proud to introduce a new vision of the PX4 v2 Autopilot board. The Arsov AUAV X1 is another elegant design from Phillip Kocmoud and Nick Arsov. Our goal was to product a high quality, compact, lightweight and cost effective alternative to the PX4 V2 or PixHawk autopilots. This is our first attempt to join the PX4 community after developing several successful designs for the MatrixPilot community. After we have finalized the design we will release the design files and schematics. The schematics will be released immediately to new owners. Initial supplies are limited and a deposit insures a boards in the first production run.

New power supply based on TPS63061 DC-DC Buck-Boost
The TPS63061 device provides a power supply solution for products powered by either three-cell up to six-cell alkaline, NiCd or NiMH battery, or a one-cell or dual-cell Li-Ion or Li-polymer battery. Output currents can go as high as 2A while using a dual-cell Li-Ion or Li-Polymer Battery, and discharge it down to 5V or lower. So you can connect a 2 cell Li-Po directly to the AUAV X1, and run it completely flat before brownout. Since it's a buck-boost converter, you can also power from a 5V BEC while still in regulation. I am with ABL, where I work we have at least 7 ardupilots, those little connectors are a major pain unless you connect them one time and leave them alone. I would be OK with the pixhawk being larger if you just gave us normal .1" connections, or heck provide a breakout port where we can plug a big adapter cable. I realize the last could be made, but it would be nice if it was an OEM item.
I'm in (price is not issue, but stupid pixhawk connectors is - this board is using 0.1" standart connectors - no more resoldering, recrimping connectors just to lift-off).
Great news about the next-gen MATRIX pilot platform :) But all the current one need is a baro update really ;)
Connecting a second sensor is my current solution , but an option for a ported sensor would be very nice i think... for aircraft... many of those use some sort of pitot tube setup - which provides static pressure... which you could hook up to a ported baro sensor... I think it could be a nice feature- option for a ported sensor - by means of enclosure or just an external sensor connection...
Wojciech, Nick and I also think the AUAV3 is currently best MatrixPilot board. Bill and team has created a very awesome solution. Our intention is to maintain boards for both communities. In fact we are already designing our next generation MatrixPilot board.
If you are able to, the on-board MS5611-01BA03 is connected via SPI, you could cook up a baro board and use the 2nd SPI interface to connect it up. Software modification would be required but that is half the fun.
I was interested in experimenting with AUAV3 platform mainly because of two reasons : price and great work done by William Premerlani and this is probably the best way to start with MATRIX pilot...
But Pixhawk for ~100$ with shipping from europe ? Count me in...
Only one thing could be better... if the barometric sensor had an option for a ported input - some space to glue a plastic enclosure with a pressure port around the sensor...
Or an option to opt-out of a baro sensor on board... just have exposed (duplicated) pins to connect an external one...
Otherwise it's just perfect... :)
Rob, we took great care to maintain base hardware compatibility with the PX4v2 / PixHawk designs. It should be relatively easy to modify any existing Ardu(x) project that is ported to the PX4v2 to work with our board.
Wojciech, this board is targeting a different community, so you have to choose your software flavor.
The pricing will vary upon the microIMU chipset that is chosen by the end user. Our pricing is currently expected to vary between $100.00 to $120.00 USD + freight. This price will drop if we get sufficient demand for larger batches.
