Starting very shortly, 0900 Mountain AVC 2013.

Chris Anderson and co are there to be covered in glory having flown an autonomous take off then out over water to drop a tennis ball on a spit of land, fly under a hoop and finally land all without the aid of a net.

What could possibly go wrong.

    Hey Chris, Roadrunner took first in the micro category, and Minuteman took second in the peleton, both using the trusty ArduPilot "uno". Not as sexy as it's big brother, but still capable.

    Dave, what is the power usage like at those speeds?  Just curious how it compares to a heli.  I was surprised it can even go that fast in the first place, so now I'm wondering how long it can do it?

    That was my favorite part as well Leonard.  They were pushing so hard, but also showed amazing accuracy at speed.

    @all: it was great show watching on the SparkFun feed. Reminded me of watching poorly shot American golf tournaments in 80s, just way cooler. Nice one Dave! Jason, that bot was awesome. Was it wind or stone that toppled him? I wasn't sure which was TCIII. aparkFun needed to have mic'ed up the MC.

    Well done team AC3.0rc5!! I was really happy how well 3.0 performed on the day! Randy and I had some bad luck and the great blokes on the two 3dr teams knocked us out of 2nd and 3rd with repeated rock solid runs. And Dave just kept making it look easy.

    My favorite bit of each run was were the copters come up from under the wicket and sprint back to the landing zone. Each time it looks like the copter is going too fast to do a controlled landing then to leans back pulls to a near perfect stop (from over 20m/s in Daves case and 15m/s for the stock 3dr quad). I have been testing this code and seeing this over and over again for a while now and each time I see it I think "it can't stop cleanly from this speed" so I wonder what the crowd was thinking :)
