CBS This Morning reports that NYPD is planning ways to disable drones. While this reports focuses on weaponized drones I think NYPDs actions effect anyone flying in NYC.
Guys.. Why can't we tap into the strength of this very site's diy community to come up with a grass roots organization. We can start with a Charter or something similar to what has been a success in my part of the world. Take a look at what we have formed here with three other companies:
Rocketman, I agree with what you say, we need to self regulate but is there any reason that we can not use existing organisations? What ever way it goes we will need to have some form of representation as hobbyists, The commercial segment of the drone community should be part of this as well. After all, the hobby and pro-hobby market is a great resource for them. I think eventually, things will settle down as flying does take a bit of commitment t learn and those that just want a "toy" will eventually get bored and leave.
I am all for getting a grass roots campaign together but I don't know where to start. I kind of feel like I am on my own a bit in regards to trying to find a voice to push my/our concerns for flying RC drones. I know there are plenty of people out there who feel the same but do not know how to form a group with a voice that can be heard by the authorities. If we had this voice then maybe there would be less anger and arguments on this site!!!
On a side note, I would like to see how authorities try to stop this little Drone.... If it becomes a reality.https://flynixie.com/

I find this very ironic. On the one hand the police are trying to jam or disable drones and on the other hand the military is using the same tech to control its battle field drones. By bf drones i mean the little pocket size ones that soldiers can carry and deploy to see whats over there.
And running away from the problem is not the solution. People also tend to highly underestimate the power that lies within a grass roots organization of campaign.
@OG that's not propaganda for RPAS delivering drugs and cell phones its the truth. Folks try anything they can. My personal favourite is tying cell phones to arrows and firing them over the wall.

Hmm.. that's good to know.
It's on topic that's for sure. If we will self regulate we can avoid it. Just saw the FAA announcement.
Take a look at the affected areas (courtesy SUAS) Restricted no fly zones
That's just the beginning I'm sure there will more and more of these.
I just don't want there to be a candlelight vigil for our hobby in real life.
This is funny but kinda not also.
HEHEHE YUP SAW THAT ONE ALREADY! ITS HILARIOUS

The weak minded don't even try to speak up. They want to run and hide and pretend it isn't happening.
