Drone port outside my bedroom window

After "rain proofing" my Phantom 3 Standard I decided to build an elevated drone port outside my bedroom window. I bought a trash grabber to be able to drag in close enough to pull it inside. Ideally I would like to make 3 walls and add a retractable roof to protect the drones from thieves and heavy rain. I would love to have the drone on 24/7 ready to go fly at a moments notice. I have line of sight to the major intersection. If anyone knows of an easy way to add a visible laser pointing down that I can turn on remotely for landing I would love to hear about it. If I added walls I would really need a laser to know exactly where I'm landing.

  • Hah..
There was some extreme police activity around here last week, and I sent my drone up to watch.  Police driving all around several blocks looking for someone.
I'd have made a great 'eye in the sky', and started to walk towards a cop parked out next to my house to offer assistance...
But they're just such jerks!  Especially when they're in hunter mode like that.
I got a gun pulled on me for just walking in his direction!  I'm really sorry, but F the Police!

You could have some sort of network of cameras on fixed points, weather proof and connected to mains power so they could operate H24. All of them connected to a central point that responds. Right I'm off to kickstarter.

you could use the IR beacon for precision landing. If I were you, I'd set up a swarm of drones on different platforms : all of your neighbour's roofs, tree platforms, maybe even on traffic lights if you convince your municipality so you can assist in flashing, etc. We are never too prudent with crime watch those days.

  • MarioSpeedwagon LOL forget Ski Patrol truTv used to run now it'll be Drone Patrol :) thanks for the idea

Looking forward to the reality TV show.
  • John, if a crime occurs I want to be able to give as much info to 911 as possible. I didn't have my drone ready last night when a woman woke me up screaming outside about rape. It would have been nice to get the drone up while on 911 because I couldn't see her from the window. I have an P3A but the camera is broken. Next paycheck I'm replacing it so I can "chase" any bad guys.

  • Pretty cool but wow... Have it ready on standby at a moments notice for a mission. What kind of missions?
