Drones used in 60 Minutes episode!

Here some backstage details of last episode of "60 minutes", a popular tv show focused on the most relevant news around the world. This episode focuses on the biggest ship accident of modern era, the Costa Concordia sinking.

Starting from 1:40 of the embedded video you can see the italian made drone "Scrabble" which filmed aerial footage for CBS!

    Landing gear always causes vibration.

    Having props on the bottom means that the air is now pulled over the boom and the wash goes straight down, props on the top create more wash.

    I's more efficient having props on the bottom, its also quieter. 

    Of course as Craig said, it makes it more challenging having to hand launch the machine.

    However your footage will always be better without landing gear and props on the bottom :-)

    ^ Well, I just happen to remember why the drone is there at the ship in the first place, and stupidity, bad ideas, and showing off pretty much define it.

    May be more stable with props on bottom, but any worthwhile landing gear would be difficult or not very stable. Let's see how the "real" aircraft do it in the future to see if this great idea catches on. Not everyone is keen on hand-catching/launching and it may have nothing to do with skill, it has to do with greater safety and applied risk assessment, which of course has little to do with this story overall. (I saw the episode twice.)

    It's a beautiful drone design though.

    Props on the bottom makes it more stable, but yet, it also makes it more dangerous to hand launch.

    Can't think of any good reason to have the props on the bottom, and a lot of not-so-good ones. Catching the drone from underneath (as shown) fits in the latter category I think, gotta be worse than doing the same thing with props on top, unless showing off for TV. Makes it awkward for landing gear. Props even more in the frame. Stupid for the sake of being different IMO.

    Cool, I saw that segment on TV and as soon as they showed the aerial shots I knew it was a multicopter with a GoPro
