Hi folks!
I would like to post some autonomous algorithmic bidirectional radio search system production design approximation stuff here.
Please, you are welcome with any questions you may find of particular interest in this regard.
p.s. My apm 2.0 dates from 2011 early preorder and it's still in touch yet after all it has gone through.
Thank you, maintainers, testers, 3dr team as well as all people involved, that was and still is and no doubt will be lots of further fun.

Hi, Elios.
This two-way search system handles power in a rather intelligent manner, so autonomous operation lifetime on the builtin 250 mA/h battery is up to 2 months for the beacon at listed temperature conditions, but if you feel like you still need this functionality, we can easily negotiate this particular feature for a custom firmware implementation accomodating your very specific needs.
You can dive into the user manual for some further details on ibeacon search system here: http://iruntheflight.com/manual/lBeacon_en.pdf
Or just ask me.
Thank you for the interest!
Hi Eduard,
Your Beacon looks nice but we have some question which we feel they are important due to our experience:
does it have the ON OFF remote feature?
This feature will allow us to turn ON and Off the small device in the place, because sometimes, we don't find the plane before the night, so, we can turn it off all night to save battery, and then we can turn it ON back in the morning.
The system Rockwell lBeacon is built on the principle of two-way digital radio communication. For maximum battery life of the beacon it is remaining in "sleep" mode (saving maximum battery energy), and go to "wake up" mode by 0.05 seconds for the control of air every 10 seconds. If in “wake-up” mode the beacon will hear a request searching device with its serial number it will send acknowledge, and returning to "sleep " mode will be delayed for 1 minute.
When the beacon receives requests from the searcher device, it will be for 1 minute in "work" mode continuously monitoring the air, after this time go to "sleep" mode (with "wake up" mode every 10 second).
The searching device continuously sends requests a specific beacon and the beacon responding to the request, what contains a unique serial number. According to answer the searcher on the display shows the signal strength as a percentage of the beacon.
This is true for all modes except "relay" mode.
Characteristics.
The range of possible search is primarily determined by the conditions of propagation of radio waves through the local barriers and the level of radio interference:
- on with the line of sight and the directional antenna approx. 8 km.
- on open area approx. 2.5 km.
- in city 800-1400 meter, completely through 1-2 the multi-storey building
The working frequency band of the device - 868 MHz (915 Mhz special USA version)
Working temperature -20 +40 C
Output RF power - 25 mW (up to 100 mW for some country).
Beacon Mini dimension 43 * 22 * 8 mm, weight 12 grams (with built-in rechargeable battery).
Work time beacon - up to 2 months
All dimension without any connector and antenna.
Warranty.
Limited lifetime warranty.
Thank you Julian, yep we are, it's available at http://www.iruntheflight.com free worldwide shipping
No exceptional prerequisites, system is classified as an SRD, operating that category on this frequency is allowed to use in Europe as far as I know. We can modify frequency range subband to comply with particular country regulations.
Yep, Tom. Spotted 100 % correct, it implements this module and is based on stm
Looks like the RFM-22B-S2

How does it work? Range? Prerequisites? Is this frequency allowed for use in Europe?
this looks interesting, are you selling any units yet ?
