Easy Star Fiberglass Fuse

I'm in the process of making a mold for a easystar fuse. I used the replacement foam fuse from the local hobby shop and mounted it to a board, filled the pushrod channels and servo holes on the outside. Fuse plug is painted and waxed.

I must decide where to install hatches (if any). I still have the removable canopy as a seperate part, and will mold the wing insert seperately.

    After I pile drive'd my EZ into the ground I've started using a folded foam core nose. Dirt cheap and plenty of room inside. I was amazed how little affect it had on the aerodynamics.

    Sprayed the plug with mold release today, Next step...glassing. Sorry lost the download plug on my camera or I'd have pictures. Single wheel is a good idea, thanks for the suggestion.

    More space is good excuse for FG and probably sleeker look too. A single wheel undercarriage won't hurt.

    I dispute the "better crash resistance" theory... my EZs have taken some impressive wild bounces and bumps, which I know a glass model wouldn't have survived.

    Tape = poor man's fiberglass!

    I love the give, mod-ability and repairability of Elapor. I wouldn't switch to fiberglass.

    Yes more interior room, reduce the exterior drag of components and better crash resistance.
    Damn near every picture of "experienced" easy stars are covered with tape.

    hi Dr,
    Good project, I am sure there will be more than few takers if you offer the FG fuse. Some photos of the plug and any completed fuse will bring in more viewers .
