That's some extreme autonomous navigation. Forget about asking The Goog how it works or why anyone would bother launching a rocket sideways. We can only guess the 90 deg turn is to save space. There are probably some 1000000 deg/sec gyros in there. Maybe it's Attopilot 1.9.
Yes, it seems to be a point defense system for bunkers or armor indeed.
It detonated the warhead of the incoming round from the bottom of the screen.
It would be interesting to know if there was any damage to the bunker it was launched from... the explosinn being so close in and so large that even though it appeared to be a shaped charge, damage that close in may have been inevitible.
I would assume that by launching it vertically one or two of these missiles can be used to give 360 degree protection to incoming missiles. Pretty impressive stuff looks small enough to be used to protect armor.
