Get it on android then it might sell. Not everyone is crazy enough to get a iPhone.

I just lost my drone at 800 m in very dense forest with rivers, no trails, no man (telemetry signal lost), I found that difficult to find it, google map and google earth didn't help because they can't give direction if not on the road, compass didn't work (it spin randomly, maybe extra terrestrial site ?). We finally got a signal after 5 hour, 6 volts remaining on 4S, there were no damage it land on the only one spot in the forest with no tree (10ft large)

But really, forget it, I will NOT try to search my drone at 1326141.18m !!! I would have stopped the hobby in that situation :D

It appears that this app requires a cellular data connection on board the UAV correct? I guess I could mount a phone on it with a prepaid sim card. Then I could Face Time with my tricopter!

@Maxime: The App has a manual mode where you enter the Lat/Long yourself. The test Lat/Long was 1 Infinite Loop Apple's headquarters.

@Jim: I'm working on instructions on how you can create a WiFi (Roving Networks RN-XV WiFly) to 3DR 915/433MHz radio bridge. You don't need cellular on-board the drone. I also have a Bluetooth Low Energy solution that will also be coming soon. This is also to support the full GCS MAVPilot project I will be releasing in a few weeks.

Does not seem to work correctly,

I set my HOME location in the settings and when I open the app the gps value changes on the find my drone page to a slightly diffent number.

the distanceto drone never changes either.

@Dwgsparky: I'm pushing a fix to distance update problem in manual mode tonight. The Lat & Lon displays your current pos not the drones, that will also be fixed as well. Thx for the report.

Hey Bill, thanks for the reply. I look forward to those evolutions. I was only half joking about mounting a phone on my UAV. It seems like a missed opportunity that we can't take advantage of everything a recently replaced smartphone has to offer. Sensors, camera, radios, datalogging, etc. I have an iphone 3gs and 4 and a Motorola Atrix 4G sitting in my coffee table drawer not earning their keep and I would love to put them to good use.

Now I got myself thinking... 3G, wifi, bluetooth, GPS, accelerometer, gyro, magnetometer, camera, touchscreen, fast processor and plenty of memory. Sounds like the ideal FC right? Someone do a Kickstarter asap!

I believe there are cellular bridges for arduino's which could be used for mavlink via 3G/LTE, given APM is arduino based (IIRC).

Packaging and coding required, naturally.

I don't get it. How does the iPhone connect to my drone? There must be some hardware plugin for the iPhone?

My APM 2.5 does not speak Wifi...what am I missing? :)
