Four modes switch for Futaba T6EX

The T6EX doesn't have a 3 position switch channel, so I had to combine channel 5 and 6 to get four modes. I made it work with a pot that has double terminals for each knob position, so that way there is always 2 pins to connect cables to for a single position.

Think of this knob as a bridge between same terminals: A to A, B to B, etc, closing the circuit to ground.

Channel 6 is connected to a terminal A and a terminal B from the opposite side.

Channel 5 is connected to a terminal B and C.

This is how the pot look like:

I got this switch at the Home Hardware in College st and and Spadina Av, Toronto, Canada. Sorry I don't have to much information about it. It's just a position knob.3689415103?profile=original

Later, in the radio, I set up 2 PMIX mixes. they appear as PMX 1 and 2. PMX 1 it's at +70%, MAS (for master) is channel 6, SLV is channel 5, SW is channel 5.

PMX 2 is set to -60%, MAS ch6, SLV ch5, SW to ch5.

The final look:

Let me know what is not clear and I will edit this blog!

Enjoy-

  • I have entered the mixes you stated and have connected both outputs (just to see). While watching the radio readout I see ch5 and ch6 creating pulsewidth and they are both producing (915ms and 2013ms) not a more specific graded pulsewidth from ch5 only. The switch is wired as you have done and the mixes are the same.

    Any ideas?

  • Ritchie: yes, the mix 'master' is ch5

Olugbenga: I have no way to know about the 7C, I made it work on mine, but that's all I know.

the pot you can buy it from here:

and i'm sure many other sites. google search alibaba

  • Where can I get to buy the pot or potentiometer used above. I cant find any on ebay and ideas please? Also Cant the mixing be done as it is with Futaba 7C?

  • Just a quickie as I've just done this (ill post pictures in daylight) with the two channels mixed which is the channel the mix comes from?

The mix would dictate that the SWitch is Ch5?

  • yes, sorry i wasn't clear enough, the grounds are both connected, and both A terminals, just like B,C and D are connected together. Think of the position knob as a bar that connects A to A, B to B, etc.

I found this picture of the knob, it's exactly the one I have:

  • I use ch8 for failsafe and ch7 for mode switching (2 modes + failsafe) but used a pro mini to do this originally actually in the airframe but this is much easier to do and looks good. I have a few switches about so can we get some clarification on the connection between contacts on the switch you have as I have both isolated switch type and common connection types?

    Are all grounds connected together?

    Are all "A" connected together?

    Excellent! Added to the manual.
