Epic job by the 3DR video team. They got their Ridley Scott on ;-)
@Tsahi: Pixhawk 2 will be open source, just like Pixhawk 1. It is a derivative of ArduCopter, and will be merged back into Master. Most of the other software behind Solo is also open source, including DroneKit.
I don't know what you mean by a "new business model". Do you have a link to what you're referring to?
We are interested in the expansion bay. Where can we get more info about it? What connectors are available? Drawings of the dimensions?
What's the companion CPU for? Video Coding for live digital link? DSLAM?
@Chris Sounds like an excellent refinement to an already solid product.
Maybe I missed it somewhere, but what does the companion computer actually do in the Solo?
There are lots of good reasons for having one, - optical flow, 3D odometry, I just didn't see any of that here.
No criticism intended, the capabilities and package are really excellent, just wondering about the companion computers function.
Very nice video (but not Ridley Scott, Chris: Stanley Kubrik--2001: A Space Odyssey).
Soooo... Why are you stabilizing some shots in post? That's very misleading. False advertising one could argue. Is there any uncut video anywhere of of a full flight? I'm very skeptical of your gimbal after seeing this.
Here's the director's cut of the launch video...
chris, it such a wonderful news that you are keeping the Pixhawk 2 open source. we will look forward to it, in the mean time we are eager to know how the pixhawk 2 and companion computers are linked. may be you can post a graphics of the layout and inter linking.
