It goes beyond overlooking the registration requirement for model aircraft. Until recently the FAA's website specifically stated that model aircraft operators did not have to register their models.
This means that the FAA considered registration, and decided against it, undoubtedly because they did not consider model aircraft to be "aircraft" in the legal sense until they saw a need to regulate them (though they will never admit this).
So according to the bureaucrats, for 60 years the FAA has simply overlooked registration of model aircraft.
This should be a slam dunk reading John Taylor's lawsuit. I have not registered and don't intend to unless the courts side with FAA. If they do, the system is definitely broken and laws can be made up or ignored by these draconian overreaching agencies. They need to be reined in.
