We're delighted to announce the new APM 2.5+, which is the same APM 2.5 board you know and love but surrounded by lots of new goodness!  Now, for a new lower price of $179, it comes with all this, right out of the box:

  • 3689487855?profile=originalThe new APM 2.5 enclosure, available in both top pin (above) and side pin (right) styles. It's designed to keep your electronics safe while looking great at the same time! The enclosure is made of black translucent ABS plastic so you can see the board's LEDs. It protects your electronics while allowing access to all pins and connectors. The inside of the enclosure is lined with ESD safe open cell foam to ensure the barometric pressure sensor is surrounded by static air and prevent unwanted readings due to airflow over the sensor. And the screws that secure the enclosure have been moved to the top for ease of use. It's also available as a stand-alone product for $4.99. (customers who already have an APM 2.5 are eligible for a coupon code to get a free enclosure with their next order. Email sales@3drobotics.com if you don't already have one)
  • 3689487915?profile=originalThe new APM Power Module, available with either XT60 (shown) or Deans connectors. It's a simple way of providing your APM 2.5 with clean power from a LiPo battery as well as monitoring current consumption and battery voltage measurements, all through a 6-pos cable that plugs in neatly. The board is also shrink-wrapped to protect it (the bare board is shown here so you can see the innards). Been wondering what that "mystery connector" was on APM 2.5? Now you know! This will ensure that you have no brown-outs due to insufficient BEC power from your ESCs, and makes current and voltage monitoring easy! It's also available as a stand-alone product for $24.99
  • 3689487864?profile=originalOur new Version 2 of the Mediatek GPS module. This takes all the learning we've had with the Mediatek over the past two years and wraps it up in one vastly improved product. New big ground plane antenna to improve reception! On-board battery for fast lock! New firmware for better performance and datalogging! Also available as a stand-alone product for $37.95.

Oh, and did I mention that we also lowered the price of APM 2.5 by $20 at the same time?? This is all thanks to our new production facilities in Tijuana, which allow us to make an increased volume of products at higher quality and lower prices. We're even adding a new Manncorp four-head pick-and-place machine there to handle even higher volume!

  • Well, I'll wait patiently then. :)

Yeah, I would say it's more a shipping issue. In my order, I had a few things I got. APM 2.5+, MinimOSD, u-Blox, and airspeed sensor. The APM was bubble wrapped with the u-Blox. Then the case was in a separate bag, the USB cable in another bag, airspeed in another, telemetry cable another, power cable another, then MinimOSD and MediaTek GPS in another bubble wrapped bag. My guess is most of the parts were already in the bag but the bubble wrapped stuff had to be put in there and taped shut and then they would have to go through their inventory and pull everything for the order. Making sure they got everything right and then packing it up in the appropriate box, getting the right label with the proper shipping company, etc. takes time. If you ordered the 29th, yours was likely 500 orders after mine. Think about doing something similar 125 times if you divide it up between 4 people. Some may have fewer items, some more so it's going to take time to not screw up. It might take longer than we would all like but the logistics of it all is something that people take for granted. Would I have been happier getting it last week when the weather was nice to try the ArduRover code or ArduPlane? Sure, but I also had other things I needed to do so it wasn't a big deal for me. I'm sure for some, this is the last thing they need for a project and I can understand the impatience but there's not much one can do after you order.

Just trying to put things in perspective.

  • Hi HeallthyFatBoy, I ordered it after the 29th. If you look right now at the APM2.5+ page, it states there currently are 42 units in *stock*.

So are you saying this is not a stock problem but a packing / sending one?

If you pay with PayPal like most people do, then like any company does, it'll be charged then. I don't know about if you use a credit card (not through PayPal) though. They did have stock levels but also a note saying it wouldn't start shipping until the 29th so you can't really expect them to ship before they say they will. It's only been just over a week since their advertised shipping date. If you didn't want to be charged before they shipped, it probably wasn't a good idea to order during a Black Friday deal, knowing they would be swamped. They said no shipping until the 29th. Then because of the overwhelming interest and orders, it's put them behind given their limited staff. What can you expect? It's not like they're Amazon. Just saying.

  • well, in this case:

     * maybe 3Drobotics should consider not to charge half a month before the order is actually shipped?

     * maybe they should consider not setting items as "in stock" and let the buyer decide if to wait or not?

    ..Just saying.. :)

    r.

Yes, I received the 34805 yesterday with my APM 2.5+ to give you an idea of the order number that was filled. My order 35447 was an airspeed sensor. Like Chris said, they are trying to catch up on orders. My guess is it's only a matter of time before it all catches up as they are definitely faster than a year ago as they have streamlined a lot of things. Just be patient.

  • I placed an order on 30-Nov for the APM 2.5+ and several other items (all listed as IN STOCK).  The status is "In Processing" as of this morning.  The order # is 35448.  Can I get an estimated ship date?

    Thanks!

  • Ordered mine Black Friday, just came today.

  • I've ordered it like a week ago, my order still hasn't shipped. Is anyone else waiting for it?

  • wonder if 3DR actually missed out mine...
