If you're like me, you've been asked plenty of times if your RC unit can be controlled by an iPhone. Now you may be able to answer yes!
Hobbyking IOS & Android 4CH WiFi Receiver
Four channel, talks over wifi, app works by pseudo-stick or tilt control, mysterious reference to "video function", failsafe... seems pretty nifty!
It looks like the unit joins a hard-coded network name, and the password is printed on the receiver.
Reference manual here. The Internet believes this to be the app.

have found a thread about hacking the device with a proof of concept python script if anyone is interested.

and a python script to drive the receiver with a joystick connected to your computer

have fun!
So the receiver creates a stand alone wifi network that you connect your device to? What would be really cool is if you could connect your receiver to an existing network and use it as a bridge to control your machine. It would be useful in a place like a university which is blanketed by wifi.
Has anybody found the app on android?
And now that I look, nope, probably not a clone, but very interesting.
I wonder if it is a clone of http://www.wirc.dension.com/ that I saw a while back.
I would not trust a touch screen controller on a plane or a quad but the hardware looks interesting. They're also seems to be 6 channels but the app only supports 4.
Looks good, Would be cool to have live video feed as the background for the app.
Very interesting. But it says the range is just 100-120m, so you won't be using it for much outdoors.
