We know you love DIYDrones... so here is the Valentine's gift from the Dev Team! Yeah, we love you back. LOL =)
Anyway, in fact the title of this post could also be "ArduCAM OSD Project meets Michael Oborne"!!!
This tool makes setting up the awesome MinimOSD board super easy!
You can also buy from your local distributor, like JDrones.
Now you can:
- enable and disable panels;
- positioning panels by drag or numeric input;
- save and load layouts from file;
- save and load layouts from board's EEPROM;
- test video mode switching with adaptive layout;
- update firmware;
- update character set;
- customize background picture;
- set grid on/off;
- test the layout with telemetry logs from Mission Planner;
If you want to know more about each feature, check this wiki page.
To upgrade your MinimOSD board just went to our download area and grab the "OSD Config" and "MinimOSD 1.9 Pack".
An update pack contains two files: the Firmware (.hex) and the CharSet (.mcm).
Pay attention to the right update order. The tutorials are linked below:
- "Update Firmware" (it adds support to upload the character set);
- "Update Charset".
I'm super happy with the progress of ArduCAM project.
Now with Michael aboard... the sky is the limit just the start!
Enjoy your new toy! ;) There is much more coming out.
Note: The battery remaining icon was temporarily disabled due it's a work in progress on APM code.
Comments
Love the work thats been done.
I saw this about two weeks ago and got the source code and modified it so it's displaying MPH and FT.
Any chance this might become a option?
Also any way of displaying the Battery used as a percent, instead of a icon? I have tried, but can't seem to get the code right.
I get 1000 for 100%, 900 for 90%, have tried a multiplier of 0.10, but doesn’t give me what I expect.
Thanks
Thanks !
Just in time for the correct 6 pin header that arrived today from 3DRobotics in a very large padded envelope :) Now that's great customer service, though an email asking whether I really needed it would have saved them some pocket money.
Outstanding work !, I will get one soon (funds needed),
Suggestion to seperate AH and ladders on each side. I think ladders cludder up screen.
Glad you created this OpenSource OSD as I was not able to get Remzibi to change screen. We now have a super flexable OSD. Next version should be HD1080p capable and color too.
@Andre: You need a FTDI adapter like this one. So, your MinimOSD will be connected the PC where you ArduCAM OSD Config is running.
@Dany: Is a nice idea. You could also suggest an FTDI cable or another FTDI adapter as optional. So, they will keep customizing and updating their MinimOSDs.
The only way to program them is FTDI either 3.3 volts or 5 volts! both works fine (right Sandro?)
I was thinking on giving an option on the store to load for the customer the latest version when ordered... Do you think it's a good idea?

How would you program the MinimOSD ? Can you do it through the telemetry port using mission planner ?
@Keith, @Grips: Yes. It works. Mine is exactly that one.
Can the minimosd be programmed with the 3.3v FTDI cable on the diydrones store?
Great stuff!
Looking forward to also seeing more from the arducam project!
Very interested in grabbing one of these especially as you can plug it into the APM or APM2 to get data feed from the flight controller. Would also show you what flight mode you are in for the FPVers amongst us.
Just curious what do you need to connect this to your PC to program the OSD. Assuming you would need something like this:
