My First Quad

I decided recently after getting a chance to operate an Aeryon Scout that I would like to have a Quad UAS of my own. I have started my build of an H-Quad. The same design that was posted recently from  FliteTest.com. It looked to be an easy frame to build and is essentially a X-formation Quad. Here are the preliminary photos and a list of parts. Since this is my first Quad build I would love to get as much input as possible. Thanks

Frame: Scratch Built H-Quad Frame

Motors: Turnigy D2836/11 750KV Brushless

ESC: Hobbyking SS Series 35-40 Amp ESC w/ 3 Amp BEC

Prop: x2 CC 11x4.7 and x2 CW 11x4.7

APM: APM 2.0 running Current ArduCopter Firmware.

  • I have completed the build so far. It is ready for flight testing. I have checked the motors and all are spinning in the right direction, ESC are calibrated, verified that the right motors increase and decrease in stabilized when a force acts on the frame.

I have all the PIDs in the default settings is this adequate for a first test hover? This is my first quad so I am trying to get the most information I can get from the community.. Thanks in advance.

  • Here are some updates on the Build.

  • It is wood.
Here is the website where I found the planes.
Very easy to build. The rest of my building parts are on the way.
The wood only cost me 5-10 dollars.

  • What did you make the frame out of?  It looks like it might just be wood if it is what type/sizes since I was thinking of doing something similar myself.
