My Ground Control Station.

As the weather here in Northern Ireland has been so bad I've been working on a ground control station, taking tips and hints from this and other FPV forums, I've produced this. At the moment I'm only using stock antennas so the range will be limited when I eventually get to try it out. The digital display is the voltage of the Video Rx and the LCD Screen, the DVR uses its own internal battery.

For anyone interested in the equipment specs - Maplin Case, Motion J3500 Tablet, Freeworld 7" LCD Screen, Lawmate WCH-300X DVR, 1.2Ghz Lawmate Video Receiver.

Thanks for the warnings and advice on cases, the motion tablet sits on a rubber pad which houses the slide out keyboard, with the keyboard deployed the motion sits up at an angle, in this position it will get plenty of ventilation, I will have to be careful if I use it flat packed in the case.

Here's a couple more photo's the motion is a nice bit of kit, I got this one off Ebay.

Yeah, you do have to watch for that. But it's solvable. I use a Pelican case for my laptop at work for 5 years now. I cut the foam out in such a way that I left venting space in the right places and it's been fine.

I now have my GCS laptop in a Peli case, same deal, but I'm not sure I've done a good enough job yet. It does still get warm.

Just a warning. I had a laptop ressesed into foam like that. The laptop started to overheat because the cooling vents for the CPU did not have enough room. Easy fix to give enough ventilation.

Not bad if your new to this. If the suitcase shout not be water resistance in the weather of Northern Ireland you could try an SKB case. They also come with cubed foam or you could try casecreator.com if you would like to have it really custom made

@Noth666 the setup fits very snuggly I only add the LCD sun shade onto the tablet screen to prevent anything that might scratch the screen, like the buttons for the voltage display but I'm pretty sure they don't come into contact.

@R_Lefebvre I'm really new to Arduplane and APM, I have loaded the software and it works fine so far, but I havent got as far as having the APM talk to the software, small steps building this is my first, setting it all up is next.

nice setup, fancy pc ;). I have been thinking of making something in a similar format possibly with a dual screen setup but both hooked to a PC.

Do you add something in when you close the setup or does it get snug enough to stay put without?
