About MeI'm a LabVIEW programmer/user by profession and I'm also a keen hobbyist/maker so I came across DIY Drones on my hunt for my next project. (Possibly a quadrotor heli...)I saw the groundstation program and downloaded the code to have a look. I couldn't resist modifying the code to be more efficient and 'proper' and I tinkered with the UI.Ground station Beta 2, MB mod v1 UI PreviewJust a little preview mind, I'm in the middle of refactoring the code to make it scalable. This is my way of giving back to the open source community. I am interested in any comments about desired features in the ground station code, such as integration with google maps, custom controls that look like airplane controls, etc is possible.Credit is due to automatik for the current version of the ground station code that I based my mod on.
I have Airtechnics servos (salvaged) with the antiquated plugs (I can adapt the plugs to a new transceiver). I am looking for a system I can adapt to our computer instead of being controlled by a hand-held transceiver on the human side. I can PM my equipment inventory and pics if this will help.
automatik- Haha, I'm in the middle of converting the code to an event-driven state machine. The links will work when thats done :P
mikko- Thanks!
Morli- I'm not aware of any other versions of ground station software based on LabVIEW, where would I find this?
Mark- I have the mac version of LabVIEW but I don't have a mac. I'll see if I can get a friend with a mac to sort this out.
Chris- You have a PM!
M1031- I don't know enough yet to comment on what components you should be using, and I don't think the features you want will be available for quite some time yet. But I hope to finish building this GS with very scaleable code so what you want will be possible in the far future.
Forgive my ignorance in asking some questions. I'm just getting back into FPVRCAs since 1983 when I built my first attempt with a SIG Kadet Mark II and a K&B .40. I got a new computer for Christmas and my son and I are salvaging the old plane and building a new one. We would like to integrate the controls and three video cameras (along with a NV system) with our new computer with three screens, joy stick and throttle control. Is there a program on the market that can do this? Mark, are you thinking of developing a program like this with the above screen as a sub-screen? I am about 2/3ds through the fuselage build. This spring is when we will be seriously looking for a program to pilot the plane with the computer. I'm also looking for a range of about five miles or further if possible. Any help, feedback, websites, or other information is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
Mark, many thanks for posting this and for your contribution. We do have a team hard at work at the next version of the GCS. Would you like to join them? Just PM me if so.
