Someone reached out to me a few weeks ago to 'give a talk on drones.' I talked briefly about MEMS, ring-laser-gyros, and touched on social issues and how you can short circuit the conversation when you can own the tech and do it yourself.
See the other talks from the night here at the IFTF.

Hi Tim,
Great talk, definitely appreciate the existential and displaced perspective considerations.
On another note, ring laser gyros are remarkable for their extreme sensitivity and accuracy, but these days they really aren't rocket science (well they are, actually but technologically they really aren't all that big a deal anymore). And the US certainly no longer has a monopoly on them, I'm sure all the Russian and Chinese ICBMs use them too and have for some time.
And I know our military is using them in very small drones.
In any case, why isn't their a good cheap (small) civilian fiber optic ring laser out there.
Sounds like a good Kickstarter project.
Best Regards,
Gary
