3D Robotics

Sparkfun has just released an "9DoF" Razor IMU board ($125) with an Atmega328, three flat gyros, a three-axis accelerometer and a three-axis magnetometer (no GPS input). This is basically similar to the ArduIMU+, but designed for indoor use or other places where GPS is not available or desirable. Because the Atmega runs at 16 Mhz, it's Arduino compatible. We've been working with them on this board, and will be converting the ArduIMU+ code to work with it soon; it will be available on the Sparkfun site and here. Stay tuned!

  • Did i read that right? GPS built into ardupilot? oh no, after i already bought the ublox! i hoped that gps would be something that was user controlled not factory implemented.

Correction the board will have 8Mhz (Arduino compatible too), I asked Nathan to change it for better performance at 3.3V.
  • Great achievment. Let's hope the magnetometer is not to sensitive to electric motor induction. If not, this is wooo hooo.
  • This is looking very neat :) I'll be ordering a couple. I almost ordered two 6dof Atomic IMUs and then I saw these. Same price, smaller, lighter and with a magneto onboard that would cost me 50 bucks extra otherwise.

    Great job.
  • maybe i should keep my mouth shut until the write up on ardumega comes out, which i hope will be soon.

No, it is NOT the one that will be used with ArduPilot! Ours has GPS build in and is designed to plug right into the ArduPilot Mega board. This one can be made to work with ArduPilot, but that is not is the primary use.
  • if this is the one that will be used for the ardupilot then its great that it will be at sparkfun so we can grab it cheaper on free day. Oh but it is 3.3v ftdi.
