  • Sensefly and eBee cost aprox 50.000uss in my country, too much money for non experienced pilots and experienced pilots build their own planes for much less money, interest to see the price of this wing.

Its all going to be about price

  • I wonder how much of the leisure market has open fields and vast landscapes which they can practise and fly on? I guess it's really a matter of projections- whether they want to sell thousands or 100's of thousands. The former is where it is likely to be for now...

  • glad they didn't use/show the eBee shake, run, toss launch. That has to be the most dangerous launch method, I don't want a prop near my junk, ever.

I like this plane, i agree with Gary, it's a nice polished version of stuff people have been building for a while. Depending on price, we'll see.

  • @Hugues

they target the leisure market, they have developed a plug and play platform, fully autonomous (=> "no skill required"). That's their target ! It is great for beginners or people who just want to use the waypoints system with no need to pilot.

  • I have a Phantom over a year too in a box, my concern is to take off, I made a catapult but more things to carry, I was thinking if it is possible to throw from one side like this video shows, some people throw from the fuselage but don't look safe, What do you think guys If it possible to take off a Phantom like this video?

  • Hugues, I agree, I'm not sure what the target is.  Untrained operators have enough trouble with vehicles capable of vertical landing aircraft, I'm not sure how they'll deal with a plane.  And then the skilled pilots, probably want a more capable plane that they are happy to build themselves.

Personally, I might be interested in this, being a capable pilot but not having the time to build one (I have had a Skyhunter in a box for over a year now).  But people like me are not a large target market.

Interesting but the marketing target makes me wonder:

-either it is targeting the leisure market (fpv) and it is certainly not competitive versus  affordable current solutions

-either it is targeting the prosumer or pro market but then it is not the right platform nor design (can't embark additional cameras and sensors)

This fuzzy market positioning does not seem coherent. Did I miss something?

  • Seems modeled after their Sensefly eBee. Let's hope the price isn't. $25K for the eBee.
  • Since it is based on the same hardware as the bebop, ArduPlane port will be pretty straightforward. I will try that as soon as I get one myself...
