Craig Issod commented on Patrick Poirier's blog post Intel to Acquire Movidius: Accelerating Computer Vision through RealSense for the Next Wave of Computing
"Ah, imagination!
You think "racing with no hands on sticks" and I think "can now effectively build something!".......it would be amazing to watch racing drones learn and behave, but I guess it will take some of the fun out of it. But maybe we can…"

Craig Issod commented on Patrick Poirier's blog post Intel to Acquire Movidius: Accelerating Computer Vision through RealSense for the Next Wave of Computing
"This is somewhat of an educated guess - but I assume that the performance of these systems on aerial robots is very closely tied to other factors than the Movidius or Realsense basic hardware.
The point is that X drone maker buying a full chipset…"

"That all sound right.....Rob.
Chaining your business to others, though, is the way of the world. I've spoken to a lot of people in my other industry (web stuff) who chained their business to Facebook. When they mentioned it (and I was mentoring…"

Craig Issod commented on Chris Anderson's blog post 3DR Site Scan now comes integrated with amazing Sony R10C
"While it may be a new industry, the concept of price vs. value is nothing new at all.
And - the concept of attempting to save money isn't either.
Even in the enterprise the regular laws of economics apply (other than a few suckers). For many years…"

Craig Issod commented on Chris Anderson's blog post Intel announces new Aero drone development board based on Dronecode PX4 software
"The whole promise of SnapgDragon (marketing) was the cost factor for what you got.
But it's hard to see the ZeroTech thingy as being more of a value than a $450 DJI - for aerial pics.
What it does have is portability and I suppose there will be some…"

Might try one myself. There are a couple other similar ones.
I think Chris mentioned here in late Dec, 2015…"

Craig Issod commented on Chris Anderson's blog post DIY Drones at 79,000 members -- time to move to a new platform?
"RCG is on VBB - a forum sw. The three biggies in the end of things are Xenforo, VBB and IPS.
They have evolved into more than just forums with both OEM and 3rd party add-ons.
Sites like RCG have been customized over the years quite a bit.
Whether…"

"NO...Not Facebook!
That's like sending a couple hundred thousand dollars (or more) direct to their stockholders....out of your pocket!
Without deep thought, DIYdrones seems more slanted toward blog...so it really may be that wordpress is the best…"

Craig Issod commented on Chris Anderson's blog post DIY Drones at 79,000 members -- time to move to a new platform?
"I think the key is whether the future is more blog based or forum based. Ning is more a blog with comments. That puts it closer to wordpress, although even a simple wordpress post may be harder (for community members) to do than Ning or forum thread…"

There are reports of people receiving brand new Solos this week from major partners under the great sale price - and opening them up and having the Rev A GPS board.

This is perhaps another place where 3DR can be clear.
Are they still selling…"

Craig Issod commented on Damian's blog post Another Drone KickStarter bites the dust ....
"Well, Mark, "stabilized" is very different than the functionality of a gimbal.
Although not privy to the gory details, IS usually involves the combination of processing power and the right math. This is not unlike video compression, which first…"

Craig Issod commented on Damian's blog post Another Drone KickStarter bites the dust ....
"I actually have faith that someday motor driven gimbals will be obsolete. It would seem as if enough pixels and enough math could eliminate them  - at least for the hobby end of things. When that day is...is another story.

I suppose we will find…"
